Before you can fix it up, you might have to tear it down…

Those are some pretty profound words in the lives of Maddie, Avery, Nikki and Kyra as they struggle to regain control of their immensely popular do it yourself program, Do Over.  Aside from their careers being held in limbo, each of these women is dealing with something in her life that is a massive challenge. They need to work together to rebuild and redesign their hotel and it’s not looking good. Neither is gaining control of the show. Throw in a pregnancy, a troubled teen and an aging rock star headed out on the road again and this group of women has more than they can handle. Thankfully they’re all good at rolling up their sleeves and digging in!

This is the first Wendy Wax books I have ever read and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and this plot. It didn’t take long for me to not only sympathize with them, but to feel like I could genuinely be friends with them. I loved the way Wax pulled each of their situations into something that we, as the readers, knew but the others didn’t. It helped give a layer of subtext to each conversation and added depth to all of their struggles.

Though some heavier topics were handled in this book, it kept a relatively light flow and tone, so it stayed completely entertaining. The twists and turns in the plot were sometimes unexpected and others you could see coming a mile away, but each was handled in such a way that they remained engaging.  I pretty much devoured this book in just two sittings and I loved every minute of the reading adventure! In fact, you see the cover art above? This book makes you feel that way. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to!
When I went to Amazon to research for this review, I was excited to see that there were others. I’ll have to see if I can track those down for review as well!
