Delightful. Sweet. And rapidly becoming one of the favorite board books in my toddler’s library. These are all apt descriptions of How do you say Good Night? from the Tommy Nelson line.
The book follows Zoey Zebra as she wanders across the plains of Africa to discover the goodnight routines of the animals. The first stop on her journey is the pride of lions. When she asks them how they say good night, they respond:
“We say good night with all our might.
We wrestle and roar and then play some more.
We softly sing, then bow to our King.
And then we growl, ‘GOOD NIGHT!’
My toddler loves hearing the playful ways that each family winds down and I appreciate how each one has their own way of ending the day centered on God. It’s an easy way to normalize ending the day remembering our Creator.
One note – this is Zoey Zebra, not to be confused with Zoe Zebra (Zeb-ra) from the Peppa Pig series. If your toddler is a Peppa addict, it can be confusing. Pronounce the name however you like but just make sure your toddler doesn’t start wondering why Peppa isn’t making an appearance.
